Police detained a 40-year-old Lubbock man and a 25-year-old Amarillo woman for questioning after gunfire erupted near 612 W 10th. An autopsy was ordered for Lamb. funeral services pending.
United Press International reports the worst tornado outbreak of the year hit the Midwest, leveling parts of Sedalia Missouri and Fort Dodge Iowa. At least four died with a fifth weather death in Florida, hundreds injured, and extensive property losses in the millions. National Guardsmen patrolled to curb looting as authorities tally at least 39 tornadoes across seven states.
