Tornado toll rises in Laurens and Greenville Counties
A tornado struck Laurens and Greenville Counties killing at least five people and injuring about twenty. Eliza Spoon, 65, died when a chimney collapsed on her home in Barksdale nine miles north of Laurens. Broadus Thompson with two children and a woman died when the Lebanon Church area house was destroyed. Twelve remain in hospital, with one in serious condition. Most injuries occurred in Barksdale.
