Administration economists told the Senate Agriculture Committee that its proposed price supports for major crops run about twice as high as President Carter would accept. The panel did not decide on cuts, though it slightly reduced projected wheat supports after 1979.
The calm Texan oil firefighter Paul Red Adair and his crew finally capped a roaring spill on the Bravura rig in the North Atlantic.
