A US led armada of four ships with thousands of refugees and a South Vietnamese flotilla left Indochina. About 105000 to 110000 refugees have escaped Saigon. The Hancock heads to Subic Bay with 2000 refugees as U.S. authorities end search for more at sea.
Tran Thi Le Hester arrived in Amarillo with only essential papers and clothes, hoping to join husband David Hester of Spearman. After 16 days fleeing from Bien Hoa to Saigon, the Philippines, Guam, Hawaii, and Camp Pendleton, she was met by in laws and an aunt. The reunion followed a long refugee journey and an embassy warning to leave.
Vietnamese communists demand return of aircraft ships and other property taken by refugees fleeing South Vietnam. The move strains US Thailand relations as 129 warplanes landed in Thailand.
