Tornado Hits Minden Arcadia Arc Narrowly Misses Mayhem
A deadly tornado crossed Arkansas and Louisiana injuring dozens and leveling areas in Minden Arcadia and Magnolia. At least 65 deaths were reported with 40 injured in Minden where the storm also damaged the negro quarter and caused fires. Arcadia Magnolia and Benton suffered fatalities as the tornado moved westward. A National Guard unit was deployed to restore order and medical crews aided stricken towns. The path was traced from West Plains Missouri to Salem Arkansas with Ed Cain among the injured.
