Oil completions behind last year in 1951 week end
Oil well completions for 1951 lagged 101 behind the year ago total at the end of last week. The Railroad Commission reported 157 completed, the year’s figure reaching 3,251. Gas well completions rose with 15 last week to 304 versus 222 a year ago. There were 115 dry holes and wildcat drillers had a poor week with eight oil wells and three gas wells. Overall pluggings exceeded last year with 107 dry wells, 2 gas wells and 63 oil wells closed. The total average calendar day crude or allowable for the month closed at 2,944,500 barrels, up 9,946 from the prior week.
