Leaders from the US and abroad attended the Capitol rotunda and Dulles airport ceremonies. de Gaulle paid respects. Mrs Eisenhower and John Eisenhower grieved beside the flag-draped bier. Nixon called Eisenhower “a first citizen of the world” and recounted his final words to family.
