Altman, 65, was jailed in Victoria with a $20,000 bond and faces transfer to Houston for confinement.
New York city report details unauthorised spending by antipoverty agency once credited with Harlem relief. From 1964 to 1966 the program received 13.4 million dollars, carried 800 thousand in debts and had under 39 thousand dollars in unspent cash. U S District Court Judge Oliver Gasch set April 7 for the sentencing of Bobby Baker former Senate aide after his January 29 conviction on income tax evasion theft and conspiring to defraud the government. He remains free on a $5000 bond and faces up to 48 years in prison and $47000 in fines. Baker served as secretary to the Senate Democratic majority for nine years resigning under fire in October 1963.
