The resolution proposes either conveying the Amarillo Air Force Base landing field and about 24 acres in the northwest corner for terminals and hangars or providing land to extend runways, with public use of the terminal and a plan to extend the north-south runway.

A Pacific air mass neared Texas, with Amarillo in line for cooler readings this afternoon as a warm front remains from Monday. Winds rise with the two fronts, dust likely, and showers possible statewide except the far south. Highs near 70, lows around 35, with Tuesday afternoon temps in the 40s and 50s following a Canadian cold snap.

The Texas House votes 110 to 34 to approve a tax bill, aligning with Gov. Shivers, to raise at least 25.6 million dollars yearly for higher teacher and state employee pay. It heads to the Senate with two weeks left in the 30 day session.

City commissioners set May 11 as the bond election date to fund about 4 million for Amarillo Expressway costs. Storm sewer work totals 1.2 million with city paying 1.045 million and the state highway department 156 thousand. Right of way estimate 2.66 million brings city cost to 3.76 million, not including future grade separations and other expenses. Randall County will hold a bond election the same day. Potter County not planning one. Other funded items include reclaimed water pipeline, Mary E. Bivins Library remodeling, a new police HQ and jail, and additional street projects. Commissioner action deferred pending decisions on several issues, with a vote possible at a later special meeting.
