Maine Doctor Held After Wife Slaying

RICHMOND Maine March 30 Dr Merrill Joss 31 was arrested on a murder warrant in the bludgeoned death of his wife Dr Laverne Harris 38 found dead in the cellar of their colonial office home Thursday night struck 26 times. He was taken to Augusta by state police after returning from services for her and appeared near collapse needing support from Police Chief Henry Weaver who served the warrant.

British submarine Parthian torpedoed two Italian supply ships in a daylight attack near the Straits of Messina.
