A silver offering will be taken for St. Paul’s Church as readings and prayers open the day. The Churchman notes a dawn gathering with selections by Slosson, Hugo, Beard, Griffith, and Thompson, emphasizing reflection and blessing.
The program presented by Mrs. Mary Miller Beard and her expression pupils at St Pauls Methodist Church features poems, songs, dramatizations, and readings. Invocations by Rev. Ed Wallace, with student performers from Heselberg and local schools presenting titled pieces such as Roses in a Subway and The Flower Factory, plus group poems and school dramatizations.
The High School hosts a Saturday evening march 8 style show in the high school building with music by the High School Orchestra. Models from Regent, Moore-Poston, Richards, Montgomery Brothers and Jarett's Fashion Shop appear in clothing contest dresses and ideal dresses for the High School girl, with solo and trombone numbers and domestic art displays. Announcers include Sarah Margaret, Jane Austin, Nell, Zallee Williams, Marjorie and Charles Fisk, and Dorothy Anne Dooley.
Many out of town visitors will come to the Music Festival week after next. High school glee clubs from Clovis Lubbock Miami Hereford and other towns will compete each morning at 9 in the new auditorium. The violin contest Monday piano contests April 10 and 11 voice contest Thursday and ensemble awards Friday and Saturday.
Miss Mildred Burgess hosted the J U G Club at 1410 Tyler Street on Thursday afternoon with a program on dialect and character led by Mrs. Sam Vaughn. Miss Gladys Seeward reviewed Old Stracted and Margaret Deland's Many Waters discussed by Mrs. Bernard Teel. A salad course followed.
The Cradle Roll children of the First Baptist Sunday School will be entertained at an Easter party Saturday afternoon at 3 o clock in the Cradle Roll rooms of the church. A lovely program has been arranged and all mothers are invited to come and bring their children.
Mr and Mrs F L Myers and daughter Mildred move from 1206 Fillmore to 1919 Harrison. Mrs F J Mackie and her mother depart for Toswell to visit her sons at the New Mexico Military Institute. Mr and Mrs Sam Albright of Dalhart arrive after the death of Rosalind Logan. Mrs Irma Austin of Salina visits her sister Emil F Myers. Judge and Mrs H G Hendricks and daughter Florence return after an extended Austin visit.
Mrs R E Logan entertained friends with a Tuesday afternoon bridge session at 410 Prospect Avenue. Blossoms and ferns adorned receiving rooms as prizes awarded for high score and consolation went to Mesdames Fred Owen and H J Funk, with each table’s top scorer receiving a potted plant. a two course luncheon followed. Guests included J G McClintock R L Means L P Caldwell L V Crack G Baum M K E Aronson D K L Thronberry H J Funk Reynolds and M E B Savage among others.
A delightful Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday afternoon for the Beginner and Primary Departments of the Central Presbyterian Sunday School at 2 o'clock at the church. All children who are members of these departments are invited to attend.
The Home Interests Club will be entertained at Mrs. Will Austin's home at 1300 Lincoln Street at 3 this afternoon. The Delphian Club will gather in the Peter County Library assembly hall for a lecture by Prof. H. W. Morelock of Canyon Normal. All interested are invited.
The Philathea Class of Polk Street Methodist Church will entertain with a banquet tonight at Amarillo Hotel beginning at 7:30 p.m. The event showcases the class members and church activities in a social gathering.
