Bodies of 27 Miners Found in Centralia Mine
In Centralia Illinois 27 more miners were found dead bringing the Tuesday explosion toll to 62. Chief electrician Fred Hellmeyer said most of the 49 missing may be in three groups and cited a possible shot charge cause. A dust explosion was also considered by company officials. Longtime Hutchinson County judge Whiteside dies at 84
James Allison Whiteside pioneer cattleman and first Hutchinson County judge died at his daughter's home in Panhandle after a pneumonia illness. He served as county judge 1903 to 1909 and 1922 to 1926. Funeral at Panhandle Methodist Church with burial in Panhandle Cemetery. He was born in 1862 in Hampshire Tennessee and lived in Electric City and Panhandle. Surviving children include Leonard, Mrs Sanford, and Mrs O Neal along with four grandsons and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers named.

Three Youths Hurt In Canyon Car Wreck
Three 23 year old youths riding a car near Canyon were injured when the vehicle struck soft shoulder and overturned after avoiding a tractor and plow. Herschel Faulkner suffered a possible concussion, Calvin Applewhite dislocated hip, Harry Brown minor injuries. They were taken to Northwest Texas Hospital. All three students at West Texas State.
