In Dallas a morning push to raise milk prices saw non striking producers report poisoning attempts on cattle. Sheriff Smoot Schmid found seven sacks of cotton seed hulls with a mixture on a nearby farm and sent samples for analysis. Deputies patrolled highways to protect milk trucks as several thousand gallons were dumped by strikers. District Attorney Hurt vowed to prosecute anyone involved in poisoning or conspiring to poison cattle.

A race in Sydney today left three horses dead and ten jockeys injured after a pileup during a hotly contested event. The cause is not yet known but officials believe the leading horse fractured its leg and toppled rivals.

In New York on March 27 Ely Culbertson and his wife extended their bridge match lead to 3,230 points over Hal Sims and his partner, after the eighteenth rubber. The Culbertsons gained 1,480 points in the afternoon, while the Sims misbid and went down three doubled in a key rubber.
The Culbertsons beat the Sims in the final rubbers of an afternoon bridge session, taking the fifteenth and sixteenth rubbers while the Sims won the last two. Bidding was dull with poor hands and predictable plays, and a heated exchange over a king doubleton marked the session.

A federal grand jury in Fort Worth indicted six people on conspiracy to defraud charges related to money order forms. Roy D. Broyles former Kings Mill postmaster named among the defendants with alleged attempts to pass money orders in Amarillo Wellington Kings Mill Portales Clovis Winslow and Fayetteville. Also named were W L Simmons M S Boyer Jo Evans Maye Hawkins Ora Hawkins and Broyles. Additionally other indictments include theft of a mailbox letter in Amarillo and letters demanding 150 from Mrs C U Connellee of Easland. Separately Senate hearing on Chavez contest moves were postponed to April 10 in Washington.
Washington March 27 Government outlays for the current fiscal year passed the 5 billion dollar mark with Treasury data through March 25 showing total expenditures since July 1 of 5 006 456 143. Emergency spending reached 2 574 490 002 and general government costs 2 431 966 140. Last year's period totaled 4 709 435 397.
A grand champion calf died of colic minutes before the prize sale in Roswell. Edith Perrine, 14, owner of the champion, wept as the 800 pound calf collapsed. The dead calf sold posthumously for 200 dollars to Hall Medford of Amarillo. Top bull price reached 290 dollars by Crockett Brothers of Hope. The sale averaged 119.20 for bulls and 19 4-H calves averaged 10.4 cents.

War saw announces Poland placed orders for two destroyers with a British shipbuilding company. The vessels will bolster the Polish fleet alongside a former German cruiser and several German torpedo boats received after the World War I peace conference.
In the Hamlin wife murder trial the state rest its case after brief questions to Sheriff Bill Adams. Defense attorney E T Dusty Miller was fined five times for contempt totaling at least 175 dollars. The jury heard Hamlin's statement and the state's confession narrative, as the courtroom filled with spectators.
