The scene greets sky travelers as they descend from a dirigible to a gangplank atop the Empire State Building mooring mast. From a height of about a fifth of a mile, visitors would step onto the mast overlook, a first for a building of this stature.
The Empire State Building may host an airship station atop its 1252 foot tower with a 12 foot wide gangplank to a circular platform. Elevators would reach 204 feet to the top for a thrilling ascent and potential mooring of a large dirigible despite safety concerns.
Amarillo awarded to D L McDonald a contract worth 125000 to furnish an additional water supply. A section of land with five wells will provide two and a half million gallons daily, with further wells to be completed by November. The deal includes transfer of Section 29 Block 9 B S F survey Randall County and agrees McDonald covers materials and trenching to the city line.
East Amarillo and vicinity expect a fair day with warmer conditions. West Texas will be fair with a gradual rise in temperatures in the northern part. The plan would pave or hard surface some 115 miles including routes from Pampa to 66 and McLean to LeFors and Carson County line. A blizzard trapped three people Friday with one, A. J. Babe Stanley, nearly dying after hours in a snow drift. Roy Kuykendall, en route to jury service, was late four hours after leaving home. Marjorie Parham, 13, stayed safe at St Mary's Academy while searchers covered the southwest city. Stanley, a Metzger's Dairies driver, was found exhausted and nearly frozen after wandering to a house for refuge.
Anthony Fokker renowned aircraft designer arrives in Amarillo at 7 30 A M by train from Oklahoma City on leave. He is now an American manufacturer who builds planes used by Amarillo daily in various directions. He travels with two companions headed for Los Angeles by Westbound T W plane after noon.
