Dudley Thorpe testified in district court that he and A B Celey and two others planned a December 1 robbery of Walter Willmering at his 1335 East Avenue home. Willmering said he was robbed of 447 dollars and checks, struck, and left unconscious. Thorpe described the plan to slug Willmering with a blackjack after the theft.

Texas railroads see declines in income and expenses
Texas railroads report January declines in all revenue and expense categories from a year earlier. Revenue dropped 13.82 percent to 17,081,407 while expenses fell 4.29 percent to 14,265,327. Net operating income shrank 42 percent to 2,816,080 with an 83 percent expense to revenue ratio. Freight income totaled 13,631,383 and passenger service 2,090,159. Principal operation costs were 6,324,618 for transportation, 3,087,436 for maintenance of way and structures, and 3,414,260 for maintenance of equipment.
