Waitress Dies After Room Gunshot at Fort Sumner Hotel
Mrs. V. W. Samples a 22 year old waitress and wife of V. W. Samples was found shot in her Bivins hotel room. She died at 6 30 pm after being transported to Northwest Texas hospital. A note suggested suicide. The couple had lived at the hotel since March 6 and were regarded as desirable guests. The husband was at work during the shooting and returned to a scene described as tragic.

American fliers killed in crash near Mexico City
Three Americans died when a plane from Nogales to Mexico City crashed in Toluca’s streets about 46 miles from the capital. Pilot Sterling Rohlfs and Wallace Springer were killed instantly.
