The victims were told expired inspection sticker fines and a later cash payment, with a March 7 deadline cited by the fake officers.
Camille Kemplin 13, representing Stephen F. Austin School, won the Potter County Spelling Bee after a 46 round contest at McKinley School Auditorium. Bobby Lu Nelson 12 of St. Mary’s Academy finished as runner up, with Ann Skeffington 13 of St. Joseph’s School taking third. The field included 25 spellers, 14 girls and 11 boys, and Camille clinched the win with flawless spellings of exigency and fruition.

Gov Price Daniel pushed the Hale Aikin school improvement program as a separate 1960-61 measure while seeking to retire the current deficit by Sept 1.
