City and county authorities investigated two robberies and a burglary after about $1500 in loot and cash were taken Wednesday night. Thirteen cases of cigarettes valued at $64 each were stolen from the J M Radford Wholesale Grocery warehouse at 100 Fillmore Street. A masked bandit took about $47 from Ray Warren at Van Buren Drug Store No 2 and $23 from Homer Peninger, a customer. An unmasked bandit obtained about $5 from an attendant at Maximum Service Station. Peninger’s rifled billfold was recovered two blocks south of the store.

Fire destroys furnished home on West Tenth Avenue
A Thursday morning blaze caused about 2500 dollars in damage to a furnished house at 614 West Tenth Avenue owned by Bob Strickland. The building was practically destroyed and the contents badly damaged. Tenants were away and could not be located. The alarm came from the box at Tenth Avenue and Madison Street.
