General snow blankets the Panhandle as Chicago reports 19 inches, Amarillo and surrounding areas see 1.7 inches moisture. a giant seaplane test plans a July Atlantic flight, with Missouri guard incident noted amid broad weather and crop impact signals.
Snow fell across the Texas Panhandle turning to light melt by morning while snow in Chicago reached 18.5 inches setting a new record and causing widespread travel disruption. Briscoe county also reported steady wet snow with no let up expected.
Thursday fair for Amarillo and New Mexico generally fair. West Texas shows cloudy skies with rain or snow possible north and south portions becoming colder. Yesterday's hourly readings show high 80s and low 60s with 0.11 inches of precipitation in the 24 hours ending yesterday at 4 pm.

Armed bandits blew open the First National bank in Sarcoxie Mo during an early morning raid. They escaped in a car after an exchange of shots that wounded a local man named Page who arrived first on the scene. The bandits secured about $5,000 in cash.
D. O. Jones, wanted at Quanah for car theft, was arrested in the northwest section of the city yesterday by Deputy Sheriff Harve Edwards of Hardeman county with assistance from Constable Allen S. Johnson. He was returned to Quanah last night.
McKinley Ward school board approved plans for an addition costing about 125000. Architects Rittenberry and Carder designed a large cafeteria 11 classrooms and an auditorium for 400. Construction contracts set to be let on Friday April 11. Decision on Bivins addition grade school deferred to a later meeting.
E C Drury former Ontario premier told the house judiciary committee that government liquor control in Canada is an absolute failure and predicts eventual return to prohibition. John J Lentz of Columbus president of the American Insurance Union testified that mortality declines under prohibition benefits dry laws. F Scott McBride of the Anti Saloon Leaguewas scheduled to close the day with a keynote attack on repeal advocates.
Gov. Moody invites Wisconsin officials and business leaders to Texas to inspect lands in the Rio Grande Valley for home seekers. Secretary Kull says he will push to revoke Wisconsin Realty Board land sale bans if conditions match. Gov. Kohler says invitation awaiting formal reply and he may not visit Texas soon due to schedule.
George M. Sunday, 36, son of evangelist Billy Sunday, was held in Los Angeles after authorities in Chicago wired he faced bond forfeiture and adultery charges. He was arrested on a downtown street corner. a telegram bearing his name led to the identification.

Harrisburg report says former major league baseball player Samuel Crane was found guilty of second degree murder in the case of John D. Oren a brick salesman after a four hour jury deliberation.
The Do X giant seaplane, with capacity for 180 passengers, plans a transatlantic flight from Constance to New York this July. It would stop at Barcelona, the Azores, and Bermuda, flown by a six member crew and a reduced 56 passenger list to allow extra fuel for long legs. The trip totals about 4770 miles with an estimated 50 hour flight time.
Mrs. M. A. Tennison 65 of Plymouth Collingsworth County died in Canadian hospital from injuries after a Canadian Perryton road crash Tuesday evening. The car tumbled into a ditch. She suffered a head injury leading to cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Tennison was not seriously hurt. Remains to be taken to Plymouth for funeral services and interment.
Two robbers held up the First National bank in West Alexandria Ohio asking for money. Charles Draper receiver and a neighbor cashier spoke calmly noting the bank had been broke for a year with no cash. The men found only dust and odor, then left with their guns.
Explorer and renowned New York journalist Dr Frank Nicholson toured Amarillo yesterday on his way to Enat. His party reported new discoveries from Carlsbad Cavern in the New Mexico underground wonderland and promised more articles on recent findings.
Twelve miners perished in a gas explosion at the Yukon mine of Crown Coal in Arnettsville West Virginia. Nineteen men were in the mine. seven escaped. The blast occurred at 2 a.m. four thousand feet from the slope entrance, with rescue teams assisting from nearby mines the state and federal mine bureaus.
Virgil Stalkup an Amarillo youth facing up to 30 years for alleged role in a suburban grocery robbery was moved from Potter county jail to Vernon to stand trial on similar charges. He was identified in Vernon hijackings and released to Vernon Sheriff Rheay. Jim Talley, charged with Stalkup here and in Vernon, escaped from jail about a month ago.
In Huntsville Texas prison officials investigated an alleged beating of former guard Jess Randell who says four convicts attacked him after his arrest. Randell described five blows with a leather strap and a stick as he was stripped and placed on a wet blanket.
