Officials investigated as wreck damage included a shattered caboose and two freight cars, while the passenger locomotive overturned and the train was three and a half hours late. No passengers were hurt.
Washington March 26 The Senate confirmed Thomas F Woodlock of New York to the Interstate Commerce Commission by 52 to 25 after a lengthy behind the scenes battle. The vote united Democratic and Republican regulars and peeled away a storm center that had loomed for a year. A prior adverse committee report and a swing toward Richard W Taylor of Alabama shifted opposition as White House plans to balance regional representation were announced.
