Eastland Texas March 25 crews of two Texas and Pacific freight trains escaped death when trains met head on three miles east of Olden Gus Kelly fireman was the only one injured taken to a hospital with serious condition both locomotives wrecked and several cars derailed in the crash
A grand jury indicted T. J. Gibson for burglary of a local residence. Gibson arrived from Antlers Oklahoma, was brought by constable Allen S. Johnson, and is held in Pogtarr County jail.
Fair and slightly warmer weather is forecast for Amarillo and vicinity on Wednesday. West Texas sees partly cloudy skies with warm temperatures, while extreme west portions may differ. New Mexico expected to be mostly fair with warmer conditions. Yesterday's temperatures show highs around 80 and lows near 45, with hourly readings noted.
Mayor Ernest Thompson and the Groom Lions club urged remodeling the county courthouse as the practical solution. He argued $400,000 suffices to remodel and add to the old structure, while $700,000 in bonds would raise valuations and cost the state an extra two million dollars in taxes. Three boy hunters near Turkey Mountain southwest of Tulsa were killed when nitroglycerin they found on an oil lease exploded. Luther McClough 16 Antonis Butler McClough 13 and Harold Edward Komma 18 were last seen alive on a road through the base before the blast. The accident occurred during road repairs and was discovered after their disappearance prompted a search by their families.
J. G. Marshall was found guilty by a district court jury of child desertion. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail as four of his children, recently declared dependent, were separated to different households. Neighbors and officials testified about neglect, while Marshall’s defense presented witnesses asserting adequate food and care.
Hess Tyler, convicted and sentenced to death, was moved from Hall county jail to Huntsville death cell to await higher court action. His lawyers filed a motion for a new trial before Judge A J Fires and will appeal. Clarence Gray, jailed for car theft, also transferred to Huntsville to begin serving a four year term.
Washington march 25 the senate passed a 230 million public buildings bill adding 115 million for construction outside Washington bringing total ten year outlay to 363 million and increasing annual outside cap construction to 50 million. the measure includes two post offices per state with over 10 million in receipts lacking public buildings.

High winds and drifting snow halting transport and communication caused at least three deaths as the storm moved from the north into Chicago and Tulsa.
Vienna reports that chemist Dr. Herman Watzl identity confirmed after a four month inquiry across three continents. A man and woman found shot in a hotel room were identified as Watzl and Mary MacGranahan. Watzl’s farewell letter claimed an intent to die to secure his wife an insurance payout of £36000, with details of a prior incident and fake passports uncovered.
Berlin March 26 German lines Hamburg-America and North German Lloyd announced a 60 year cooperative pact ending fierce competition. The joint communique named Dr Cuno of Hamburg-America and Herr Leineken of North German Lloyd as signatories. Continued on Page 16.
In San Antonio on March 25 the jury for John M. Pete McKenzie reported they could not agree after a second sanity hearing. The 10 to 2 ballot favored a sane verdict from early on, and McKenzie will be sent to a state hospital. Judge McCrory said no further sanity hearings unless ordered by a higher court.
A Pacific storm-spread system sent blizzard conditions from the Great Lakes to the Midwest and panhandle of Texas. Chicago faced 10 inches of snow with blocked highways and rail disruptions, while Gary Indiana and North Manitoba Island reports detail ice, fires, and rescue actions amid a widespread cold spell.
Nine workmen were killed when the Tecama Chalco dam at Morales Hacienda near Tacuba collapsed during cleaning. Several others were injured as water pressure overwhelmed the weakened structure.
