Thailand says it will end the U S arms airlift to Cambodia from its territory while allowing food shipments to continue. The U S airlift moves food fuel and ammunition to Phnom Penh from Tapao base near Bangkok and South Vietnam, the only supply line since Cambodia’s borders were sealed weeks ago. The decision reduces military support but keeps humanitarian aid flowing.
Interior Secretary Morton urged temporary federal subsidies for the electric power industry. He outlined loan guarantees tax changes and rebates as options and pressed Congress for early action on measures to spur new power plant construction.
The Interior Department opened a formal invitation for nominations of offshore tracts along the mid Atlantic coast from New York to North Carolina. It asks industry, states, and the public to identify specific tracts to lease or to designate as unsuitable due to fishery, environmental or other resource concerns. The call covers 20 to 80 miles offshore, extending about 280 miles from Nags Head, North Carolina, to south of Long Island.
