H G Guill 31 a Star House mail carrier is jailed in Gray County awaiting arraignment on a federal charge of burglarizing the Alanteed post office of 30 dollars in cash. The break occurred Monday at noon while the assistant postmaster Amy Bell was out for lunch. Guill was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Jess Hatcher and postal inspector Olaf Baldwin after entry was gained by climbing over the exterior wire cage.
Windstorm Strikes Winchester Kentucky City
A windstorm hit Winchester Kentucky injuring an undetermined number of people. Initial reports cited about 50 injured, with many taken to local hospitals. The storm damaged about twelve houses, and volunteers searched the debris. Hospitals in Lexington were asked to send anti tetanus serum.
