Opal Lillian Stewart 34 of San Angelo and McCamey is jailed on $5,000 bond for kidnapping the 18 hour old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hinton of McCamey. She faced murder charges in Ed Smith shooting near Merizo last July and a district trial was moved to another county. Stewart declined to sign a statement or undergo a physical exam.
Monte Bridges held in Stinnett jail after Sheriff Dan Hardee brought him back from San Bernardino California. Bridges, charged with murder in the February 1 shooting of Fred English owner of a Borger hotel, faces an April term court. Sheriff Hardee quoted Judge E J Pickens saying he would not honor pond for Bridges. Two young women witnessed the shooting in what was described as a bill dispute.
Partly cloudy and colder conditions expected across Amarillo and surrounding West Texas regions. Tuesday forecasts call for generally fair skies and continued cooling in New Mexico and west of the 100th meridian. Dr Francis Townsend of the Townsend old age pension movement states he has not pledged their group to Senator Borah for the Republican nomination. He notes he will not entangle the organization with pledges and cites Borah as the only candidate showing sympathetic attitude toward their movement.
Ray Bell was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary after a three minute jury verdict in the 47th District Court. Prosecutors presented three witnesses identifying Bell as the man who held up a poker game at the Blue Goose Cafe last fall. Bell pleaded not guilty and was defended by Culwell & Culwell.
In San Jose on March 23 the Lamson murder trial jury failed to reach a verdict and asked to be dismissed. Judge J. J. Trabucco ordered seven men and five women to continue deliberations.

Salt Lake City March 23 A line of blond youths paraded through the police station as officers hunted a fiendish slayer who raped Ruth Shaw and left her body in a snow bank near a canyon road. Naomi Shaw said the suspect was unknown to her and denied the man was her sister's companion from a local dance. Police interviewed about 30 acquaintances but had no solid lead.
The federal government dismissed its appeal in a suit by Governor Eugene Talmadge and Georgia farmers over Bankhead cotton control taxes. The government also filed a disclaimer to impounded funds, prompting a court order to refund money to interested farmers.
