Beaumont murder trial opens with tense courtroom scene

Two Fishermen Drown Near Greenville

Two fishermen, Charles Langford aged 30 and Guy Bass aged 24, drowned near Greenville after nightfall while returning from a line setting trip. Cries for help were heard shortly after they departed, and two hours of searching failed to recover the bodies.

Amarillo Arbor Day to Plant 1600 Trees in City Park

Governor’s oil and gas conservation bill advances in House

The Texas House committee on oil gas and mining gave a favorable report on Governor Sterling’s bill to create a three member state oil and gas conservation commission appointed by the governor for six year terms. The vote was 11 to 8 amid calls to extend hearings for more data.

A jury was completed tonight for the trial of Paul Nisbet charged as an accomplice to the slaying of C. H. Taylor near LeFors. Charles Wilson already serves a 20 year sentence for the slaying. Mrs. Wilson, present at the killing, may testify. Nisbet and the Wilsons shared a LeFors home.

Archer County wells spout oil in new deep sand strike

Wichita Falls reports Archer County drillers hit a 2,212 foot well near Archer City in the Deep Oil Development Company and Lindsay Drilling Company No 1 L F Wilson. The 10 inch hole yielded an estimated 1000 barrels per day with the sand found at 2210 feet. The casing reaches 141 feet above bottom as the bore caves after initial bailing.

Doctor's Cool Shots Thwart Bank Robbery

Edna Kansas March 23 Dr A T Hyde WW veteran credited with foiling a 1497 bank robbery as two robbers tried to flee in a car. One robber identified as Dave Nunnally or Nanally. the other a youth of 19 to 20. Bank officers and merchants helped subdue the incident. both robbers appeared intoxicated according to the coroner.
