William Fitzgerald a 61 year old three time convict escaped Baker County jail in Oregon by sliding down the elevator shaft after bonding from his cell with a sheet rope. He would have been released today anyway due to a court order. He is now listed as wanted.

Robbers Tie Up Shoppers in Downtown Shoe Store

In Los Angeles on March 22 two men robbed shoe store owner W F Koehn of 11 dollars, tied him, and fled. Salesman Allen Murrel, customer Fred Haber, and delivery man Charles Howard were each restrained and robbed of 109, 50 dollars respectively before the robbers escaped. Police hunt the suspects.

Tornado Damage Tops 15 Million At Tinker AFB

In Oklahoma City the March tornado at Tinker Air Force Base halted operations Saturday night and returned to near normal today. The storm destroyed 52 planes and damaged 50 more, wrecking several buildings while injuring six people slightly.

Hitchhiker the lifesaver on rough road near Boston

The United States sues a 1941 Chrysler Royal Sedan alleged to have transported and concealed marijuana in Lubbock on June 24, 1947. Attorney George McCarthy of Amarillo says he holds a mortgage on the car to guarantee his fee after Bitela hired him to defend marijuana charges. The car, owned by Morin G. Bitela of Lubbock who died September 26, is now held by federal officers who confiscated it on July 9.

Doctor says veteran dies after Bataan check receipt

Manila reports Dr. Lorenzo G. Almeda said ex Sergeant Ariston Y. Almalel went insane and died after opening a Philippine Army check for wartime service on Bataan. The doctor called the payout the balance due and could not confirm prior payments.
