Aged Man Killed When Hit by Auto Near Memph is
A 70 year old man T C Pritchett died after being struck by a car driven by J K Smith near the Indian Creek filling station about five miles west of Memphis Texas. The collision occurred around 9 20 this morning and the death was nearly instantaneous.

Borger Lions Raise Over 500 for Crippled Children
Borger Lions Club raised about 507.50 for crippled children in the Panhandle after a noon meeting. Special nurse Medora Duncan and Amarillo News-Globe reporter Nida Martin spoke on Oklahoma City care efforts. Fatal Blast At Pampa Explosions Claims Victim
A blast at Plains Drilling in the south fields of Pampa killed a man. The victim was tentatively identified as Dade Thornton, brother of Tex Thornton, explosive expert. Mrs. Joe Powell of Amarillo heard the name and others headed to Pampa for details. Unconfirmed reports tied Tex Thornton’s associates to the case.

Walker pleads guilty seeks two year term for farm slaying

Execution of Hickman Postponed

Five Children and Driver Die When Burning Tree Falls
In Leaf Mississippi on March 22 a giant pine tree burning from nearby woods fell onto a car carrying Salem school pupils and their driver. Five children aged under 16 and driver Dave Doss were killed. Doss’s daughter Marie died with him. Two rear passengers were injured, one girl escaped unharmed. The tree fell just south of Leaf, and victims were identified beside the road after rescue. Nettie and Hattie Doss and another Miss Doss were among the dead along with Mizell in the rear seat. The pine had burned for three days before collapsing.

Santa Fe Lumber Rates Cut in Panhandle Passenger Line
The Texas Panhandle and Santa Fe railroad saw a rate reduction ordered by the state railroad commission. The new rates cut the 30 percent four and a quarter cents per 100 pounds to 29 and a quarter cents from Zita to Canyon and south of Canyon to Eppler. Other reductions trim the Floydada branch and routes from O'Donnell to Lamesa and west of Doud to Per ley, Balch to Wellman, and Lorenzo to Crosbyton.
