Bond issue of 2 million dollars set for April 27 to fund construction and district growth.

Hillsborough River flood crested Monday bringing more disaster to Tampa area as over 8,000 residents fled homes. Sheriff Blackburn warned water would still rise below the dam though crest appeared reached above the city’s waterworks dam.
UPI reports police fired on rioters in Saarpville and Langa during protests against pass laws. At least 62 killed and 192 wounded, with 34 bodies found in Sharpville as jet fighters were deployed. Hospitalized casualties exceed 60. officials warn higher totals.
Cuban forces detained two American pilots and four other people after a private plane landing 65 miles east of Havana turned into a failed exit attempt. The pilots Howard Rundquist and William Shergales were wounded and held along with the Cuban group they sought to aid, while U S Cuban relations face renewed strain ahead of Ambassador Bonsal's talks.
The Texas House General Investigations Committee plans a Wednesday hearing at 9 a.m. in the federal grand jury room to probe gambling operations in Potter and Randall counties and alleged links between gamblers and law officers. Thirty-one people were slated to attend.
State intelligence agents and Texas Rangers issued subpoenas to a dozen people as part of a two month secret probe by the committee. Among those served were Curtis Travis and Dick Butkin of Potter County, Randall County Judge Roy Joe Stevens, Ruby Ferguson, Nappy Nall, and William Gerald Miller jailed for a murder case. The hearing, held behind closed doors in Dallas then continued, aims to gather information for potential corrective legislation.
Washington officials visited the crash site near Tell City Indiana to inspect the Northwest Electra disaster that killed 63 people.
