Texan Held in Double Slaying

M G Dickey a 53 year old Willis cafe operator surrendered to officers after a fatal shootout at his cafe. William Cotton 45 and his son William Jr. were killed following a street fight between Cotton and Dickey's son. Dickey says he fired after being attacked and evicted to outside then again after a stool was hurled.

Dutch To Free Ship Then Ship Seizure Standoff

The Netherlands East Indies government said the American Liberty ship Martin Behrman will be free to sail next week after unloading of confiscated cargo. James W. Training Plane Crash Injures Two Near San Antonio

Lieutenant Clyde H. Pate of Amarillo, a Randolph Field instructor, was seriously hurt when a PT-13 trainer crashed near San Antonio. Student Lt Hollis Johnson had minor injuries. Pate, a 1942 enlist, lives at 1505 Clover Drive, Amarillo, and is a Yugoslavian camp survivor from the European war.

New Taxers Fail On Teacher Boost

In Austin lawmakers failed to advance a tax bill intended to fund higher teacher salaries and farm to market roads. Rep C S McLellan chaired the measure seeking a 1.851 cents per 1000 cubic feet levy on Texas natural gas. B29 Over Pole In Routine Trip
