The Magnolia Petroleum No. 4 Latham struck in the Cree-Hoover pool near Pampa creating a 15,000 barrel oil and 60 million cubic feet gas output. The well, shallower than others, flowed 100 barrels per hour at first, then rose to 15,000 barrels with a 41 gravity oil. Nearby highway traffic was detoured and a closure was sought to control the blaze.

Colquitt Davis Granted Stay of Execution in Oklahoma
Gov. W. H. Murray granted a stay of execution to Colquitt Davis, 18, condemned to die April 2 for the murder of Carter County deputy sheriff Don Kiersey in a Wirt gun battle. Stage driver saves woman found along highway in wreck
