Heart Attack Fatal To Oil Broker Here
Joel Meeks Dodson independent oil broker and retired banker died at 2 o clock yesterday morning in St. Anthony's Hospital. He suffered a heart attack on Feb 7 and entered the hospital early last week. He was 64. A former resident of Pampa and Vernon he came to Amarillo 10 years ago to join Phillips Petroleum Company. He resigned four years ago to become an independent oil broker. He also held land and cattle interests. Surviving are the widow Alma Dodson four daughters and two sons two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services pending.

Judge Thompson Killed by Suspect Then Commits Suicide
Elizabeth City N C March 16 Police Chief Walter Spence said Superior Court Judge C Everett Thompson 65 was shot and killed in his home by George Pritchard who then killed himself. Pritchard fired through a living room window striking the judge in the back of the head. Pritchard found slumped over a shotgun near the front door and died about 20 minutes later. He was free on bond pending an appeal to the state supreme court on a criminal libel conviction upheld by the high court.

Five year old Richard McAfee was critically injured crossing Lipscomb Street to fetch a ball. He struck the right front fender of a car driven by Donnie Gene Stevens 17. The car swerved and bounced over the curb before stopping near 2100 Lipscomb. Richard was described as extremely serious by a physician at Northwest Texas Hospital.
