A large protest march to the Capitol stalled a public hearing on the state minimum wage bill as a local option city sales tax faced a filibuster. Senate adjournment failed 17 12. Labor Committee postponed the hearing to 8 30 a m with strong opposition from Sen Schwartz and allies.
The City Commission will consider purchasing 25 Darling fire hydrants at 3 p.m. today at City Hall with the public invited. The lowest bid of 133 dollars per hydrant from Darling Valve & Manufacturing Co. is noted, alongside talks on the city dump grounds and several contract purchases including valves, pipe, and glass beads.
