The city’s clues hint at a prominent locale known as the heart of the city. The puzzle notes the city’s size while suggesting a landmark name widely recognized by locals and visitors alike.
Governor Shivers proposed tax increases on beer gas and franchise taxes to raise 26.15 million yearly for teacher raises and a $10 monthly boost for state workers. Aikin Jr. shepherded a teachers pay bill in the Senate as lawmakers face a 30 day special session with funding questions and safety upgrades for Deaf School facilities.

Mrs. Lela F. Acker, 75, suffered a stroke leaving her helpless for 16 hours. Neighbor Ona Owens found her in Amarillo around 4 PM after hearing shouting. Acker was moved to Northwest Texas Hospital with bruising and possible injuries. she had prior light strokes.
