A B Rawley 71 longtime Amarillo resident died at home 610 Alabama street at 9 last night from pneumonia. Survived by widow two daughters Mrs Lee Williama and Mrs R P Parcells both of Amarillo and brother Frank Rawley of South Dakota. He moved to the Panhandle ten years ago from Mitchell South Dakota. Funeral arrangements to be announced by Blackburn funeral home.
A called meeting of DeMolay officers is set for Friday at 7 PM at the Masonic Temple to rehearse the DeMolay and initiatory degrees and to meet the past masters council organized by Mitchell Deane of Dallas. Members to attend devotional services at St Andrew's Episcopal Church Sunday evening. They should gather at 7 15 PM at the Masonic Temple. A ceremony and dance is planned for April 8.

William Henry Gallagher for Sapiro begins opening plea stressing free speech rights and consideration of motives behind publications. Court adjourns before he completes argument.
Slaton, Texas will host its first spring trades day on March 19 organized by the Retail Merchants' Association. The event offers 25 cash prizes and a town fundraising effort by local merchants to support prize money.

Florence Nelson, 50, dies in a local hospital from injuries after leaping from the second floor of the Third Street building destroyed by a Friday morning fire. She worked at the Amarillo hotel and lived in the building with little known about her past. This death brings the fire toll to three, following Jewel Gonzales, 17, who died hours after attempting to rescue her infant.

Austin March 16 The Love bill authorizing city councils to enforce strict segregation regulations was sent from the House to the Governor for signature. The measure aims to address large city segregation problems through local ordinance power.
The gasoline tax bill passed the Texas House after senate amendments and goes to the governor. It imposes three cents per gallon until September 1 1928 and two cents thereafter. Conference committee members aim to finalize a compromise on the motor license fee bill with limited changes to terms and county fee freedom.
The Texas Farm Bureau cotton association designates Corpus Christi as the port for concentrating the south Texas cotton crop. After storage facilities are ready, 45 counties will move their cotton to Corpus Christi, with a large new compress and warehouse planned. Previously all cotton went to Houston, but Corpus Christi will cut freight and concentration costs for south Texas members. Houston remains for non south Texas deliveries.
In Austin on March 15 Representative Webb urged the house to pass a bill allowing unorganized Crane and Upton oil lands to be appraised by an expert hired through Ector county. He said proper appraisal could save Texas about one hundred thousand dollars annually in oil revenue.
Walter C. Teagle president of Standard Oil of New Jersey, visiting McCamey with Standard and Humble officials, warned there is too much oil on top of the ground in the United States and West Texas prospects look strong. He doubted an early spring in the north could lift gasoline markets enough to help crude oil.
In Shamrock Texas a justice court granted an injunction on city petition restraining Arthur Scruggs from further erecting a cotton gin in the North Side addition two blocks north of the high school. The city ordinance bars factories in residential districts and Scruggs recently moved the land into city limits. Scruggs said he would appeal.
GREENVILLE March 15 Plane were perfected here Monday night for re opening of the Guaranty State Bank of Lone Oak. The bank was closed December 31 to protect depositors during a run following the closing of another bank.
