Death Claims Head Of Motor Agency

Jesse A. Rogers 62, Amarillo business and civic leader and churchman, died yesterday at Baylor Hospital Dallas after months of illness. He founded Plains Chevrolet Co. and led Amarillo business life for over 30 years. Funeral plans to be announced by N. S. Griggs & Sons with services in Amarillo. his wife, two daughters, a son, his mother and five grandchildren survive.

Shamrock Oil Seeks Tax Court Hearing Over Deficiency

Shamrock Oil and Gas Co of Amarillo asked the U S Tax Court for a hearing on a disputed 179702 tax debt claimed by the IRS on 1948 1949 and 1950 income taxes. The company shows net income of 13645885 for the three years, IRS totals 15475961 after disallowing 1837188 in deductions. Ray C Johnson vice president signed the petition.

Eisenhower Calls for Moderation in School Integration Debate

President Eisenhower urged calm on both sides in the school integration dispute and defended upholding the Constitution. He criticized Southern lawmakers who issued a pro segregation manifesto and warned against nullification or interposition aimed at keeping federal law from being enforced. Eden Wins House Backing for Cyprus Policy Debate

Prime Minister Eden secured a 317 to 252 parliamentary vote in support of his Cyprus policy.
