Irishman Pays a Debt On a Fiddle in Amarillo
In 1914 Dick Vaughan, a farm lad in Hereford, got a fiddle from his father. A wiry Irish fixer bought the fiddle for a quart of whisky, then battered the boy’s instrument. Yesterday, nearly 27 years later, the Irishman repaid the debt with a quart of whisky to Deputy Sheriff Vaughan in Amarillo.

Fifty Die in Powder Explosion in Spain
SEVILLE Spain March 14 Fifty persons were killed and over 500 injured when a vast explosion at the Santa Barbara powder warehouse wrecked a suburb and damaged central Seville. The blast, blamed on a dropped case of explosives, killed the worker his wife and seven children. Five soldiers guarding the depot were among the dead. The disaster left 3 000 homeless and destroyed three hundred workers homes.
