Texas Company plans a new oil pipeline from the Panhandle oil field to White Deer. Right of way purchases indicate construction will begin no later than Monday. The route is not yet officially announced but is expected to run toward White Deer, near Burkburnett.
Edgar Moulton, assistant general manager of the New Orleans joint traffic bureau, testifies in the Texas-Oklahoma rate hearing that the Texas common point grouping system should not be disrupted now. He criticizes drawn out general rate hearings and notes unsettled ICC cases, while defending interstate rates in Louisiana and proposing commodity rates reflect regional production differences.
The oil committee recessed until next Tuesday due to Senator Walsh of Montana's bronchial illness. His condition is not serious, and he is expected to resume duties soon. Until his return, inquiry procedures remain undetermined.
Oilmen estimate Texas No 1 Burkburnett is producing at least 1000 barrels per day with optimistic talks of 2000. Pumps and test tubing limited capacity, and prior reports of small output are blamed on equipment. Market price around 2.25 with a 0.50 premium. Testimony alleges the royal mail liner Orduna sold narcotics and liquor at New York Port with crew and officers sharing proceeds. Witnesses say bars never closed in port and that liquor was brought in sealed, then disposed to bootleggers. Bond posted to keep ship in service ahead of Hamburg voyage.

Washington March 14 the revenue bill faces a 26 percent income tax cut to be paid this year before June 15. Senator Harrison predicts passage of the provision as a separate resolution whether the revenue bill becomes law or not, as House leaders push for action even if the measure stalls. The revenue bill is sidetracked by the Senate finance committee as treasury rate schedules await hearings.
Phillip E. Fox former Ku Klux Klan publicity director arrived at the Georgia state farm in Milledgeville to begin a life sentence for the murder of Captain W. Coburn in Atlanta. He told Superintendent B. H. Dunaway I am here to make good.
Washington March 14 Protected by rules prohibiting amendments and limiting debate the soldiers' bonus will be brought before the House for a vote next Tuesday. A two thirds vote will be necessary for passage but proponents predicted approval. The bill provides paid up 20 year endowment life insurance policies and cash payments to veterans entitled to not more than 50 dollars. Representative Jeffers favors a cash option and called the bill a gold brick.
Weather bulletin notes Saturday will be warmer in central and northern New Mexico and parts of Texas. Southeast portions may see partly cloudy skies and mild conditions with fair weather elsewhere. Temperature readings across Amarillo and surrounding areas are mentioned, with evening expectations around early night hours.
Amarillo business firms including Pool Drug Store Red Top Taxicab company and Liberty Theater moved into the 100 percent bond owners class by purchasing Tri State fair bonds. The list totals thirty four names most reflecting both heads and employees. Purchasers must buy by noon today to join the honor roll and future committees will continue street outreach.
March 14 Chico scene reported where T. F. Bock, former Fort Worth attorney, was shot and gravely wounded at his home. His wife Pauline Bock was taken into custody and later arraigned before Judge J. H. Voster at Bridgeport on charges of assault and attempted murder with bond set at two thousand dollars.
Texarkana dispatch reports John Henry, a negro, convicted of murder of James Asbury Whitten near DeKalb on March 1. Punishment set at death by a jury that deliberated eleven minutes. Trial at Boeton with Sheriff J D Baker and Ranger Lem Lamkin in attendance. Motion for a new trial will be heard Saturday.

A Worcester to Providence train derailed at Dionds Crossing Whitinsville Mass injuring three seriously and over thirty others with Elwood Walling Harrisville KR L baggage master Charles Ritcher 70 Providence and J G Mongan Nantucket R I among the injured taken to Whitinsville hospital. The crew offered no explanation for the derailment.
The Philadelphia court granted Harry K. Thaw a jury trial to determine his present mental condition. Thaw petitions to be deemed sane and capable of managing himself, with his mother and estate committees named as defendants. The judge ordered a framing of the issue on Thaw’s sanity and noted anticipated cooperation from his counsel and family.
Washington March 14 More sensations the most lurid of the lot yet developed tumbled today into the record of the Senate committee investigating Attorney General Daugherty. Means described his money collections for Jess Smith in sums from 5000 to 100000 and named few identifiable sources. He claimed to have collected 160000 in one night from a Japanese representative for Mitsui to stop action on overpayments on war contracts, and said Smith took the money that same night. He testified other sums were for Smith and associates who protected owners of Carpentier-Dempsey fight films in interstate commerce. He also noted whiskey withdrawal permits but gave no amounts. The testimony resumes tomorrow as investigators seek specifics.
