The letter says speakers cover topics from Marxism to the McCarran Act and democracy, with no mention of Cold War events. A reader suggests the Attorney General could jail a Communist for speaking on campuses.
Fred M. Finch highlights the Dalhart volunteer fire department led by Chief Bev MecMean organized in 1944. In 1951 neighbours donated a thousand dollars to extend the radio system to the fire crew, enabling rapid response across Dallam and Hartley counties and saving ranch grass multiple times.
This and That Statistics cited by Rev. Ralph Powell of Kansas City at the Downtown Kiwanis Club claim preachers quit churches most often on Mondays. Powell, who played trumpet on the program, noted Mondays are generally difficult for ministers and joked about accountability for what he played. He suggested hearing him on a Tuesday. OO

In Dallas a police radio net transmitted a 20 minute real life soap opera argument between a couple over love and a missing ring. Police attributed the freak transmission to a telephone line mixup under City Hall.
Amarillo and area expect partly cloudy skies and a touch warmer through Wednesday with a high near 58. Northwest Texas should see clear to partly cloudy, warmer temps today through Wednesday with highs from 48 to 65. New Mexico forecasts partly cloudy conditions with light snow flurries in northern mountains, otherwise fair and temperatures rising from today.
Fidel Castro told Cubans that the revolution cannot deliver goods amid the brutal blockade and pervasive shortages. He announced nationwide rationing of rice beans lard and cooking oils beginning March 19 with milk rationing delayed to March 26, citing U S embargo and counterrevolutionary foes.
Seven infants died at Binghamton General Hospital as authorities investigate whether a salt based formula caused the deaths and illness. Ten other babies fed the salt formula became ill, four critically, while 17 more discharged. Autopsies and tests will determine if sodium intoxication is to blame.
