Fugitive Pair Held in Officer Tossed From Car After Battle
Amarillo detective Lem Savage remained in serious condition at St Anthony's Hospital after a shooting near the police station yesterday afternoon. Three suspects are jailed in connection with the incident: E M Thompson 27 of Dallas brother of Blackie Thompson killed by officers years ago Elbert Day 21 of Paris Tex and Billie Joe Kunkle 18. Two others escaped from a Paris jail around March 5 and were at large.
