Top bull was Sir Domino at 1125 dollars. top female Capitola Carlotta sold for 625 dollars. A Red Cross fundraiser calf, Juliette 5th, fetched 300 dollars and helped lift Red Cross receipts to 505 dollars. The event closed the association's 12th annual Hereford activities at the Amarillo Fat Stock Show, with 22 additional bulls and heifers averaging 174 dollars in the 26th annual spring offering. The stock show ends today with 135 calves slated for sale.

London dispatch from Bombay confirms Col. John A. Gillies of the U S Army was killed in a plane crash north of Basra Iraq. Other casualties included passengers and a Russian aircraft crew. Gillies was missing since February 28 and Mrs Gillies residing in Amarillo and their children in New York and Amarillo. The War Department also noted ongoing lull in fighting on the Philippines Bataan Peninsula.
