Corlat claims Lovato and he fought over a pistol on Tascosa Road and the weapon discharged. Lovato’s body was found in a car trunk, and Corlat allegedly fled to California.

Ottawa AP Prime Minister Lester B Pearson orders a closed door judicial inquiry into the Gerda Munsinger sex and security scandal tying Conservative ex-Cabinet members. The affair, likened to Britain's Profumo case, provokes Conservative protests as a no confidence clash looms. Mrs Munsinger labeled a former Communist spy by Justice Minister.
In New York a bank robber demanded $30,000 from teller Rita Higbie at Brooklyn Savings Bank. The robber received only a $10 roll of quarters and a $10 roll of half dollars before fleeing, police said.
In Nottingham England Alan Twigg was walking his dog Kim when he fell into a 10 foot hole and was injured. Kim stood guard at the entrance as rescuers arrived. A police dog handler tried to assist but Kim bit him ten times before allowing Twigg to be pulled out and taken to hospital.
FBI reports two Cleveland men were arrested in a plot to sell stolen secret trade formulas and processes worth millions to Du Pont in Wilmington. Wilbur J. C. Pierce, 27, was charged with mail fraud. Earl Bush, 29, faces mail fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property. The formulas involved a new synthetic rubber process owned by B F Goodrich and Montecatini, with one man seeking 42500 from Du Pont.
Hereford leaders hear Texas must show pollution cleanup progress by June 30, 1967 or federal standards will be imposed. Witnesses include Paul Engler of Hereford Feedyards, Caviness Packing, George Jones for E C Reinauer, Dexter Lillie for Holly Sugar, and Lloyd Bergsma of the cattle feeders group.
