An Air Force C 119 Flying Boxcar crashed into the home of Lubhet Levron near New Orleans late Saturday night, killing the occupant and leaving a scene of devastation.
A construction worker, his wife and two sons, along with all six crewmen of the plane, parachuted to safety following the crash.
In New Orleans AP reports a Coast Guard helicopter plucked three missing crewmen from a swamp after a C-130 troop carrier crashed. The crash killed Luthet Levron his wife and two children. their seven year old daughter Janice was in critical condition with a skull fracture. The three rescued crewmen were unnamed at daybreak. six crew members total were identified by Clinton County Air Force Base officials.
East German border guards fired on a British military automobile near Potsdam in East Germany injuring the sober driver. Lt. Col. Nicholas Browne, unhurt, was arrested and later released by Russians who voiced regrets. The incident marked a first for Western Allied forces under East German police fire. The British deny provoking the clash and demanded a protest.
Secretary of State Dean Rusk met with Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko at a Geneva dinner attended by Britain's Lord Home. They discussed Berlin harassment incidents and the stalled nuclear test suspension, with Rusk signaling Western frustration and awaiting results in a day or two.
James Ray Bailey eight years old son of Mr and Mrs James Lamar Bailey of Pleasant Valley was fatally electrocuted at home Sunday night Doctors said he had been dead some time Witnesses said an overhead plastic light fixture fell into the tub as the boy bathed the wires landed in the water The fixture sat on an unsecured shelf about three feet above the tub Police said the fixture broke free and toppled into the water Attempts at resuscitation by his parents and Amarillo Ambulance attendants were unsuccessful.
Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara said there is no reasonable prospect for a defense solely relying on missiles against a U S attack and that speeding up the B70 supersonic bomber to spend about 10 billion dollars is neither necessary nor desirable. He could not predict when an effective anti missile system would be ready.
Four gunmen armed with shotguns overpowered Officer J. L. White at 2 a.m. and handcuffed him to his car steering wheel before burning open the Bank of Hancock County vault in Sparta Georgia. They escaped with about $12,000 from tellers boxes and nearly all safety deposit boxes looted while the main vault remained closed. The burglars also seized about $1,000 from Cheeley Motor Co. and Brooks Chevrolet before fleeing. The FBI reported extensive box tampering with no total disclosed.

Rochester doctor reports a rare incident as Arthur Heveron, a 43 year old postman, kissed his wife and his jaw locked. He was transported to Genesee Hospital for jaw setting and a nurse noted the case as unusual.
