Amarillo Man Killed In 1945 Traffic Accident
Samuel Taylor Clayton aged 77 of 739 North Arthur was struck by a northbound car near Sixteenth and Fillmore and died at area hospital. Driver Walter Simon stopped and assisted. Clayton, a retired grocer from Clarendon, had moved to Amarillo seven years ago. He left a bus to fetch forgotten items and was hit while crossing toward Quality Food Store. He leaves his wife, two sons, four daughters, two brothers, two sisters, and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services are in Clarendon with burial there. remains lie in state in Amarillo.
