President Carter nominated Texas Agriculture Commissioner John C. White to be the second in command at the Agriculture Department. White, 52, said his goal is to enable farmers and ranchers to earn a living while staying based in Austin await Senate confirmation. He criticized farm policy and the Russian wheat deal, and stressed lowering input prices while raising product prices.
Las Vegas court hears sworn deposition from LeVare Forsythe a self described Hughes courier about delivering the so called Mormon Will to a Utah service station in 1976. Forsythe refused comment entering and leaving the Clark County Courthouse. Attorney Harold Rhoden says Forsythe claimed he received the will from Hughes in 1972 and delivered it to Melvin Dummar in late April 1976.
