Rigoletto Tickets On Sale In Downtown Amarillo
Tickets for the opera Rigoletto go on sale today in a dozen downtown stores including Cretney's and Southwestern Public Service Co. The Municipal Auditorium box office opens at 7 PM and the show starts at 8 15 tonight. Prices include tax at 1.20 for adults and 60 cents for students. Proceeds support the Youth Center fund as the event is sponsored by the San Jacinto Kiwanis Club.

Cal Merchant Dies At Clarendon Home
Cal Merchant, 82, longtime Panhandle cattleman, died after years of poor health. Born September 24, 1865 in Pilot Point, Texas, he moved to the Panhandle in 1887, worked with the Turkey Track outfit, and served as its manager from 1889 until 1903. He refused a North Dakota offer and filed on lands north of the Canadian in Hutchinson County in 1898, living at Adobe Walls and later at Isom. He and his wife Anna Cooper raised three sons, living in Panhandle until 1919 before moving to Drilier’s Boots-Army Combat Boots Dress Shoes.
