Berlin Air Attacks Drive Deep Into Reich

The American air forces mounted a major Berlin strike dropping 2 000 tons of bombs and incendiaries on industrial and military targets in the capital area. The raid followed heavy losses a day earlier and involved large fighter escorts and coordinated Royal Air Force support as Dutch and German targets were hit along with rail centers at Le Mans and other sites in Holland and Germany.

Fat Stock Show Ends As Panhandle Youths Sell Top Livestock

The 1944 Amarillo Fat Stock Show closes today at the Tri State Fair Grounds with boys and girls selling baby beeves, pigs and sheep. Auctions start at 9:30 for pigs, 10:30 for lambs, 11 for calves, led by Col. Earl Gartin. Grand champion beef from H C Shaw and reserve from Pete Bromley expected to lead bidding, with past highlights including gifts to charities and notable sales reaching $1.10 a pound for a previous year's calf.
