James Brice Beard aged 72 a pioneer Amarillo merchant died at 1008 Madison Street Sunday about 1 am after years of ill health. Born Oct 31 1858 in Saulsbury North Carolina he moved to Texas in 1888 and to Amarillo in 1900 where he founded J B Beard later Killough Davies. He leaves widow Nannie Miller two sons J Miller Beard Grady L Beard and a daughter Mrs T H Benton.
