Couple May Lose Child Over IQ Debate in New Jersey

In OLD BRIDGE New Jersey Mr and Mrs Richard Combs face losing their four year old foster daughter Alice Marie who has an IQ of 138. The state board of child welfare seeks custody to place her for adoption with a family better able to nurture her exceptional intellect. The Combs age 25 and their two daughters argue they love Alice and fear losing her amid appeals to the superior court. The board says the couple is not financially or intellectually capable to develop her potential and that their focus on television shows insufficient reading. The couple previously tried to adopt and now challenge the refusal.

Eisenhower to address nation on Latin American tour

President Eisenhower, nearly recovered from hoarseness, will deliver a 15 minute radio television report from Puerto Rico Tuesday night after returning to Washington from a two week Latin American swing. Hagerty said the 15 500 mile trip to four nations will be carried live at 7 p.m. EST by the major networks.

Substations Open Today Across Amarillo for Passenger Car Tags

Nine temporary tax offices in Amarillo begin today and run 9 AM to 6 PM daily through April 1. No title transfers or registrations for trucks or other vehicles.
