Thirteen-year-old Charles Wiseman of Oldham County took grand championship at the 1939 Amarillo Fat Stock Show with his Duroc boar, the top entry among 310 pigs from three states. Club Boys Take Spotlight at Show Today
Two men who sold cattle in Amarillo's first Hereford sale in 1915 captured grand championships as the ninth annual Amarillo Fat Stock Show opened. R T Alexander of Canadian won grand champion carload of bulls and W E Bennett of Amarillo won grand champion carload of heifers, with longtime Hereford breeders among the event’s founders. The sale of the champion bull carload went to Jay Taylor of Amarillo for 175 per head after judging.
