Mike Ariza, 45, was critically wounded in a gun battle outside El Charo Cafe at 114 Harrison at 8:20 p.m. He was shot in the abdomen and taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital. Josh O’Neal surrendered to Sheriff Bill Adams, saying Ariza fired first. O’Neal’s revolver was a .32 caliber vest pocket pistol. Police recovered an ivory handled .38 revolver from Ariza. Witnesses said the fight was over a woman. Ariza remained unconscious. a transfusion was planned. Ariza’s home is 1708 East Sixth. O’Neal was to be questioned next morning.
